The honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin, has recently announced some uplifting news for government employees, teachers, and pensioners in the state. With a retrospective effect from April 1, a 4% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) will be granted. This news is set to benefit a staggering 16 lakh employees and comes at an additional expenditure of Rs 2,366.82 crore. Despite the state’s debt following the Covid-related dip in revenue earnings and the financial crisis passed on from the previous regime, the government has stayed true to its promise of fulfilling the needs of its employees. In line with the central government’s hike, the DA for government staff will be increased from 38% to 42%.
