Interest rates for GPF as of January 2023
The interest rate for the General Provident Fund (GPF) was published by the Ministry of Finance and would stay at a reasonable 7.1% for the final quarter of 2022-23. This information was just released by the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) in an official resolution that will take effect on January 1 and last through March 31, 2023. 7.1% has been verified.
What is the General Provident Fund?
Employees of the Indian Central Government can save for their retirement through the General Provident Fund (GPF). It offers tax advantages as well as attractive interest rates for long-term investments. All Central Government personnel, including those in the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service, and Indian Forest Service, have access to the GPF, which is administered by the Ministry of Finance. Employees are able to set aside a portion of their monthly pay into the GPF and receive interest on it. The Ministry of Finance adjusts the interest rate on GPF deposits once a year.
What is the GPF Interest Rate?
The Ministry of Finance adjusts the interest rate for GPF deposits each year. The annual interest rate for GPF deposits is now 7.1%. All GPF deposits made between October 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022, are subject to this rate. At the conclusion of each quarter, the interest rate for GPF deposits is determined and credited to the account. The interest rate offered on GPF deposits is more than the interest rates provided by the majority of other Indian savings plans.
