Vehicle Registration Number
Every vehicle registered shall be assigned a Registration Mark (unique number) as per the MV act. At the time of Registration Approval, the number will be randomly assigned.
If the owner of the vehicle wants a particular Registration number or the fancy number for the vehicle and if that number falls within 1000 numbers from the current series, he can apply to the concerned RTO / MVI along with the registration disclaimer generated by the dealer.
(i) For Two-Wheeler and Three-Wheeler Rs. 2000/-
(ii) Four-Wheeler value of the vehicle up to Rs. Four lakhs Rs. 10000/-
(iii) Other values of vehicle more than Rs. Four lakhs Rs. 16000/-
Advance and Fancy number (Government Reserved number)
If the advance number / Fancy number that is required by the Owner is above 1000 Registration Mark of the Running Series on that particular date, or Advance series or Government Reserved Fancy number, the owner has to file an application along with a copy of the Sale Certificate (CMVR FORM-21) and addressed to Secretary to Government, Home (Transport) dept. Secretariat, Chennai. After getting a government order for allotting the required number, the owner has to go to RTO/MVI office for the registration of the vehicle and payment of tax by paying the advance number Fees mentioned below.
