Telangana New RTO Code is TG 2024: The Central Government has issued a notification to modify the Regional Transport Office (RTO) code in Telangana. The new RTO code for Telangana will be changed to ‘TG’ from the previous ‘TS’ on vehicle registration plates. This alteration was officially announced through a gazette notification by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on March 12, 2024.
Moving forward, vehicles registered in Telangana will display the State code as ‘TG’ instead of ‘TS,’ which was previously used. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, under the Government of India, released this notification. The amendment, listed under serial number 29-A, replaces ‘TS’ with ‘TG’ for the registration mark on vehicles in States and Union Territories. This modification aims to improve regulatory clarity and effectiveness and is effective immediately from March 12, 2024 onwards, according to a statement from the office of the Special Representative to the Government.

Upon the release of a Gazette Notification by the Central Government concerning the change of the RTO code in Telangana from ‘TS’ to ‘TG’, inquiries have arisen regarding the necessity of updating existing number plates with the new code. Official sources have confirmed that there is no mandate to change the current number plates to incorporate the revised RTO code of ‘TG’. Moving forward, ‘TG’ will be the sole RTO code assigned to all vehicles registered in Telangana.
